The Accord's worldwide reputation for
unmatched driving performance, the new larger Accord
combines even more powerful driving with sporty excitement.
Ingenious Honda i-VTEC technology for continuous control of
both valve timing and lift is equipped on two intelligent
engines: 2.4-liter DOHC i-VTEC and 3.5-liter V6 i-VTEC VCM
(new Variable Cylinder Management), designed for higher
energy, lower fuel consumption, and among the lowest exhaust
emissions in the world. Computer controlled Drive By
Wire(DBW) provides optimum control of engine power output
and torque in response to the amount of acceleration pedal
action. This achieves smooth, powerful acceleration, giving
the driver an exhilarating feeling of virtually unlimited
power on demand. |

2.4-liter DOHC i-VTEC Engine |
The improved 2.4L engine
delivers 180ps, 10ps more than the previous model, for a
more rousing driving performance. The i-VTEC engine
technology and Drive-by-wire(DBW) feature optimizes fuel
and air mixture for fuel efficiency.

- Increased power output
- Drive-by-wire
- Lower emissions (Euro-4)
- Lighter Weight
- Reduced NVH

Variable Cylinder
Management TM technology maintains power and
optimizes fuel economy simultaneously. It activates the
engine's cylinders as needed to meet the demands of both
acceleration and fuel efficiency.
At 6 cylinder mode, the engine produces an
exhilarating kick with its powerful V6 engine, while at 4
cylinder mode, it produces both power and fuel efficiency.
And at 3 cylinder mode, fuel saving is achieved. Active
control engine mounting cancels out annoying engine
vibration, and active noise control system ensures silence
in the cabin by producing noise-canceling tone from the
speaker and reducing the muffled engine sound stemming from
unused cylinder.

Active Safety: VSA + ABS + TCS |
|
Honda's new active safety measures are
immediately apparent from the first moments behind the
wheel. The driver can take confidence in wider front
visibility and ever-greater cockpit comfort. While the
dashboard heights is maintained for a sense of protective
shielding, there's a relaxing new sense of openness, with
unobstructed visibility thanks to to flat, lower placement
of wipers. The front pillars have been narrowed in design
yet enhanced for even greater rigidity, providing improved
front-to-side visibility for easier cornering.
The new
accord's VSA stabilizes vehicle behavior with centralized
control of three vehicle safety functions - ABS(Anti-lock
Brake System), designed to stop wheel lockup during braking;
TCS(Traction Control System) for prevention of wheel
slippage during acceleration, and a sideslip reduction
function to lessen slippage during cornering. All these
measures ease driving tension and help the driver
concentrate on the sheer pleasure of going places in the new
Accord. |
